Cecilia

Cecilia
b. 1948, Spain; d. 1976, Spain
   Singer (real name Evangelina Sobredo)
Cecilia (Evangelina Sobredo) lived in various countries up to the age of 17 as her father was a diplomat. She returned to Spain in 1966 to read Law, and met musicians with whom she would form her first group, "Expresión", before embarking on a solo career (adopting the name Cecilia after the Simon and Garfunkel song). Cecilia recorded three LPs and her songs are full of socio-political references. Her career was cut short in 1976 when she died in a car accident. Two posthumous collections of her greatest hits and recordings of unfinished songs have been published.
